When we were asked to visit the Drake’s store on Savile Row to talk plants, we knew it would be botanical love at first sight. Founded in 1977 (our favourite style decade) in East London; Drake’s really speaks to us as a brand. Their elegant aesthetic and playful take on traditional garments is right up our street and their London store interior has us feeling right at home. Lots of natural light, pops of colour, beautiful art, stylish furniture and just look at those retro speakers!
Some of you might not know that Jame's’s career roots lie in retail, menswear and tailoring with his first job in London being for Mr.Start in Shoreditch; so adding Drake’s to our client list is special. Gone are the days when he wears a suit to work; but now he can admire them every week when he visits this wonderful space to care for this indoor garden.
Working in this beautiful store has reminded James of all the things he loves about quality menswear and retail shop design in particular. Today, houseplants play a very important role in creating welcoming retail spaces as customers want to feel at home to fully buy into a brand. The first phase of greening up the Drake’s store has so far been a delight. We have inherited some established plant specimens including Kentia Palms, Spathiphyllums, Aglaonema and a large Ficus tree; which we have taken under our wing as their new guardians. The new plants that we’ve added already look right at home in their playful painted pots with Monstera, Philodendrons and Zamioculcas.
