Introducing

Verdant Visions:

The Plants By There 2024 Houseplant Studio

At this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show, slip under the vibrant bed sheets and sink your mind into colourful dreams of lush and leafy times past in my 1970’s inspired retro bedroom.  A nostalgic, botanical journey through ‘Verdant Visions’ will spark warm and fuzzy memories of playing records on repeat and belting out your favourite hits in front of the dressing table mirror, or drowning out your more wonky renditions of pop classics in the shower whilst getting ready for a night on the town.  You will rediscover the familiar houseplant favourites from your youth who won’t be judging your private musical performance one bit.  Just step into the spotlight, grab the nearest hairbrush and serenade the leafy audience under the mirror ball at my dream plant disco!

Meet My Sponsor:

This year Plants By There has teamed up with Findmypast to help you unearth your own family stories and fond memories. A specially curated newspaper collection, exclusive to Chelsea Flower Show has been put together by the their research team. Iconic moments clipped from the pages of Findmypast’s vast and colourful historical newspaper collection, charting the events great and small that defined the decade, including past coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show will feature in the houseplant studio.

“By supporting Verdant Visions, we’re helping to transport visitors back to their teen bedroom, bringing to life the iconic designs, plants, and sounds of the 1970s, and offering the opportunity to dive headfirst into your own past.”

Managing Director, Sarah Bush

Article: Country Life - May 31st, 1973

Findmypast have given me access to their vast archives and together we have unearthed some incredible newspaper articles that will tell a broader story of the 1970’s. Naturally, the focus will be on houseplants, Chelsea and music icons of the time!

“Partnering with Findmypast to create this immersive space has opened doors to a wealth of intriguing information and their extensive archive has enabled me to have real insight to this period and re-live moments from the decade of disco, flares and Spider Plants!”
